CARLON BUILDING AUGUSTA W.A.

FARMHOUSE RENO
Having built this home in 2008, Carlon Building were commissioned once again in 2024 to renovate. The brief was to extend and renew the kitchen in this beautiful Karridale farmhouse.
The concept was to create a large, practical and comfortable kitchen to enjoy cooking with plentiful home grown produce. This involved extending the kitchen out into a courtyard with a new floor slab, timber framed walling and a high pitched cedar lined ceiling with gable windows. The roof was further extended over a new entry porch to welcome those arriving at the farmhouse.
Co ordination between trades was essential in this project to ensure the delivery of a quality outcome. The extension has been seamlessly detailed into the existing house.
The cabinetry in this project was extensive and integrated fully into the design.
A large bespoke island bench is the centrepiece. The benchtop is constructed partly of practical stainless steel and partly of timber to soften one end as a gathering place with stools to chat to the cook and enjoy informal meals.
A corner window with a window seat looks out to the driveway to the north and provides a sunny place for breakfast.
Ample storage is provided in a large, well appointed walk in pantry for preserves and supplies and coffee making.
A balance of practicality and durability to suit the serious business of cooking with character, texture and well -considered detailing invites everyone to linger in what is the hub of the farmhouse.
