OCEAN VIEW

Built on a long, narrow block that falls steeply to the east offering extensive views over Flinders Bay.

The clients are keen to live actively outdoors in their retirement home. As keen campers and fishers they sought to accommodate their caravan and boat as well as visiting friend’s caravans on the block.

The main floor at street level provides garaging and accessible daily living for the couple while downstairs is designed for visiting family.

Visitors are led through the front garden and north facing alfresco area to arrive into the living area, experiencing panoramic ocean views as they enter.

Prior to construction, the floor layout as well as construction methods and materials were analysed carefully by Carlon Building to ensure the budget could be met during a period of substantial increases in building costs.

Materials were selected for durability, BAL compliance and limited maintenance in a coastal setting.

High quality finishes were achieved using excellent local tradespeople. These include stone garden walls, porcelain benchtops, engineered timber floors and 2400 high double glazed louvre and Aneeta windows and stacker doors.

The outdoor spaces are integral to the overall design that flows easily from inside to outside and offer a variety of microclimates and ocean views.

The low pitched skillion roof seen from the street characterises this modern beach house. The subtle material and colour scheme, both inside and out, gives the home a calm and spacious feel.
